H T Mould China Limited: from export-focused mold maker to a leader in thin-wall injection molding

As China’s manufacturing sector upgrades, H T Mould China Limited has used sharp market insight and strong engineering to evolve from traditional export molds toward a focused thin-wall strategy. Founded in 2008, we spent over fifteen years growing from a single-site mold maker into a provider of mold design and build, automation, and integrated turnkey solutions.

Rooted in Shenzhen, built on export-grade quality

In 2008 we established operations in Shenzhen as an export-oriented injection mold company. China’s manufacturing boom and global supply-chain shifts opened doors in Europe and the Americas—markets with uncompromising quality expectations.

From the start we adopted “win the market through quality.” Dozens of skilled toolmakers and engineers formed the core team in Shenzhen. Steady investment in process and craftsmanship built our reputation abroad. We produce high-end injection molds across automotive interior and structural parts, power-tool housings, precision electronics, and medical plastics—with deep experience in two-shot (two-color) tooling.

Export work shaped our DNA: European and American customers demanded precision, tool life, and repeatability—pushing us to formalize material selection, heat treatment, machining control, and validation. With annual output on the order of 300–400 molds, from small precision tools to large molds for presses up to 2000 t, that foundation later enabled our move into thin-wall packaging at scale.

Reading the market: a deliberate move into thin-wall molding

Around 2019, China’s consumer market shifted. Bubble tea, coffee cups, and disposable meal packaging drove explosive demand for thin-wall plastics. Globally, thin-wall molding matured alongside high-speed presses, robots, and IML equipment—clearing the path for high-volume, automated production.

Thin-wall molding cuts wall thickness and material per part, lowers piece cost and weight, aligns with sustainability trends, and shortens cycles—but it is demanding: gating, venting, cooling, thermal control, and synchronization with automation must be engineered as one system.

Our leadership committed after thorough market and technical review: open a dedicated plant in Dongguan for thin-wall injection molds and center future growth on this segment.

The move was more than adding a product line—it rebuilt core capability. We transferred precision-mold know-how into thin-wall-specific design rules, equipment, and shop-floor systems. Dongguan’s location improved logistics and proximity to food packaging and consumer-goods clusters in South China.

Thin-wall molds: the technical heart of the business

Today thin-wall injection molds are our flagship offer. The Dongguan team—about 60 people—designs and builds thin-wall tools for presses up to 1000 t, typically 40–50 sets per month, supporting large programs with short lead times.

Our thin-wall portfolio spans food packaging: bubble tea and coffee cups, meal boxes and lids, yogurt and chocolate trays, ice-cream and cake boxes, fruit (e.g. blueberry) punnets, and more. Materials are mainly PP and PS, opaque or transparent, serving food service, retail packaging, and fresh-produce channels.

Technically we address multi-cavity accuracy (4, 8, or more cavities), very thin walls (often 0.3–0.8 mm) with fast fill and aggressive cooling, and tight coordination with IML and handling automation.

Integrated solutions: lowering the barrier to entry for customers

Unlike shops that only ship steel, we deliver “mold + automation + support.” IML adds brand value in thin-wall packaging; we supply full IML lines and downstream packing—from molding through labeling, inspection, stacking, and wrapping.

Crucially, automation is debugged together with the mold in our plant before shipment, so the customer receives a matched, production-ready system. You do not need to stitch together multiple vendors or build an in-house automation team—provide the press, and you can scale quickly.

Aftermarket care spans maintenance, spare parts, technical support, and operator training—true turnkey delivery that contains technical risk, shortens start-up, and lets you focus on brand and sales while still mastering thin-wall production.

Three business pillars working together

H T Mould China Limited today rests on three complementary pillars.

First, thin-wall injection molds—our growth engine and primary investment area—with strong recognition in food packaging.

Second, IML and packaging automation—extending the mold business and deepening customer partnerships while opening new revenue.

Third, automotive and legacy precision molds—the Shenzhen site continues serving global Tier suppliers in auto, electronics, and medical, supplying stable cash flow and technology that cross-pollinates with thin-wall work.

Looking ahead

From Shenzhen to Dongguan, and from export molds to thin-wall leadership, our story reflects the broader upgrading of Chinese manufacturing. We will continue investing in thin-wall processing technology and integrated automation under a simple principle: technology as the foundation, quality as the baseline, and the customer at the center.

We are also exploring biodegradable materials in thin-wall packaging where feasible, and expanding sales worldwide—bringing thin-wall molds and automation to more international customers.

Our aim is to be a global reference for thin-wall injection molds and integrated automation—advancing the industry with engineering customers can rely on.
